Why Believe In Jesus?

Taking A Byte Out Of Lies

What does Jesus offer us? Why should we believe In Him

Q: "Why believe in Jesus? What does Jesus offer me?"

A: Below are some of his statements made while on earth, in their context.

Jesus Is The Light Of The World

A way out of darkness -- "I have come as light into the world, that everyone who believes in Me may not remain in darkness." (John 12:44-46)

Sometimes you need a light to show you the way. To help you see dangerous rocks rocks in your path.

Direction in life -- Again therefore Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life." (John 8:12)

A candle in the room can dispel the darkness. Likewise, the Light of Jesus Christ can dispels the darkness of sin that engulfs the hearts and lives of those who are not following Him.

I Am The Bread Of Life

Some caption goes here

Satisfaction, an end to our inner hunger -- Jesus therefore said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread out of heaven, but it is My Father who gives you the true bread out of heaven. For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world." They said therefore to Him, "Lord, evermore give us this bread." Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me shall not hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst." (John 6:32-35)

Bread is considered a staple food. We can survive a long time on only bread and water. By equating Himself with bread, Jesus is saying he is essential for life. Jesus was not Talking of the physical realm but the spiritual realm. He is spiritual bread that brings eternal life. Notice the words "come" and "believe." This is an invitation for those listening to place their faith in Him

Gave His Life So We Have Life. He Rose From The Dead: Happy Easter!.

Payment for our sin -- "The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many." (Matthew 20:25-28)   He was teaching His disciples and telling them, "The Son of Man is to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill Him; and when He has been killed, He will rise three days later." But they did not understand this statement, and they were afraid to ask Him. (Mark 9:31-32)
It is Written:"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9, NIV). Jesus did not pay for our sins only in part: he paid for all our sins. "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed" (John 8:36, NIV).

I AM The Door!

Enter Through Me

Abundant life -- Jesus therefore said to them again, "Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep." (John 10:7-11). It is helpful to understand ancient culture. Sheep helpless they l spend their entire day grazing, wandering from place to place, never looking up. As a result, they often become lost. But sheep have no "homing instinct" as other animals do. They are totally incapable of finding their way to their sheepfold even when it is in plain sight. By nature, sheep are followers. If the lead sheep steps off a cliff, the others will follow.

Come To Me Your Sins Are Forgiven!

Forgiveness of sin -- 4 men came, bringing him a paralytic man. Because of the crowd they could not get him to Jesus. They made an opening in the roof above Jesus and lowered the mat with the paralyzed man. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven." Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, "Why does this fellow talk like that? He's blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?" Immediately Jesus knew in his spirit that this was what they were thinking in their hearts, and he said to them, "Why are you thinking these things? Which is easier: to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up, take your mat and walk'? But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins...' He said to the paralytic, "I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home." He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, "We have never seen anything like this!" (Mark 2:3-12)

I will Raise You from The Dead!

Come To Me

Eternal life -- "All that the Father gives Me shall come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day. For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him, may have eternal life; and I Myself will raise him up on the last day." (John 6:37-40)
